Two dead, two others wounded in shooting; gunman still at large

OAKLAND – Two people died and two others were wounded in an East Oakland shooting on Saturday morning, authorities said.

The shooting happened at about 8 a.m. outside an apartment complex in the 1600 block of 83rd Avenue, not far from International Boulevard.

Police cordoned off the intersection of 83rd Avenue and Holly Street in Oakland while the on-site investigation proceeded.

A man and woman were found dead by police outside the complex. Two other women were wounded and taken to hospitals. Their conditions were not known.

Authorities believe there was one shooter and as of 1 p.m. that person was not in custody.

The killings are the 58th and 59th homicides investigated by Oakland police this year.

A $30,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the shooter. Police say tipsters can contact them at 510-238-3821 or 510-238-7950.
