Man dies by suicide on sands of Corona Del Mar Main Beach

A body was found at Corona Del Mar Main Beach on Saturday morning, and police have determined that the man died by suicide.

The Newport Beach Police Department said that reports of a body on the sand at the beach at 5:37 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found a deceased man.

It was determined that he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A gun was located at the scene.

The man has only been identified as a 64-year-old Orange County resident.

Police said that the incident was isolated and there is no threat to the public.
