JD Vance campaign plane makes emergency landing in Milwaukee

A plane carrying Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance made an unexpected landing in Milwaukee Friday afternoon while on its way to Cincinnati.

The Eastern Air jet returned to Milwaukee International Airport after experiencing a potential issue with its door, according to Wisconsin station WISN.

A spokeswoman for Donald Trump’s running mate told the outlet that an apparent malfunction with the door seal forced “Trump Force Two” to turn back to Milwaukee, where Vance earlier campaigned.

The issue was resolved within an hour and Vance’s crew was cleared to continue their previously scheduled flight back to his home state of Ohio.

The plane’s unplanned return to Milwaukee comes exactly a week after a mechanical issue forced a jet carrying Trump to make an emergency landing in Montana, roughly 140 miles short of where the 78-year-old GOP nominee hosted a rally later that night.

No injuries were reported in either incident.

Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz will debate Vance in New York City on Oct. 1. CBS is hosting that meeting, which was agreed to on Wednesday.
