COPA investigation underway after shooting involving police officer on South Side

CHICAGO — An investigation by Chicago’s Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) is underway after a shooting involving a police officer on the city’s South Side on Friday afternoon.

According to COPA investigators, the shooting occurred in the 1700 block of West 47th Street, in the Back of the Yards.

COPA announced the investigation in a post on X at around 6:24 p.m.

Chicago police have not yet confirmed or provided details on the incident.

Currently, it is unclear what led to the shooting or if anyone was injured.
