Two teens stabbed, wounded in rush-hour clash on Times Square subway train

US

Two teens were stabbed and wounded on a subway train rumbling through Times Square at the beginning of rush hour Thursday morning, cops said.

The victims, ages 15 and 16, were on a Brooklyn-bound train on the N/Q/R line when they got into an argument with a rider as they approached the Times Square-42nd St. stop just before 7 a.m., police said.

As they quarreled, the victims’ adversary pulled a blade and stabbed the younger boy in the hand and the older teen in the abdomen before dashing off the train.

Medics took the teens to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.

A person of interest was caught by cops a short time later but no charges were immediately filed.

As of Aug. 11, the city has seen a 6% drop in crime in the city’s subway system this year compared to the same period last year. There has been a 5% drop in felony assaults and a 22% drop in robberies in the subway system.

Cops have investigated 334 assaults in transit this year through Sunday compared to 353 during the same period last year.

Subway safety concerns soared earlier this year with several high-profile incidents, including three shooting homicides and one man shoved to his death within the first three months of the year.

The murders, along with an uptick in assaults on transit workers, have sparked a show of force from law enforcement, the deployment of the National Guard and plans by Mayor Adams to bring weapon-detection systems to city subway stations.
