Authorities are investigating a burned body found at a park in Manhattan’s Washington Heights neighborhood, the NYPD said on Wednesday.

Both the NYPD and fire department discovered the body after responding to calls concerning a bush fire at the corner of Edgecombe Avenue and Jumel Place in Highbridge Park shortly before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, officials said.

Upon extinguishing the fire, authorities came across the burned body of an adult female, who was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The authorities did not release the identity of the victim — and no arrests have been made. An investigation is underway.
