Murrieta school district employee arrested in child sex abuse case

US

A Murrieta Valley Unified School District employee was arrested Wednesday for the alleged ongoing sexual abuse of two children and police are asking for anyone else who believes they were a victim to come forward.

After being alerted to the accusations on July 16 of this year, Detective Bureau investigators learned that two minors were first assaulted in 2016 at a residence in the city of Murrieta.

The Murrieta Police Department identified the suspect as 50-year-old Wayne Conklin, who was arrested and booked into the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center, the Murrieta Police Department posted on Facebook.

The Police Department confirmed to KTLA that Conklin did work for the school district but did not provide further details.

He was booked on suspicion of lewd act upon a child, continual sexual abuse of multiple victims and dissuading a witness, police said.

Anyone who believes they were a victim of Conklin was asked to contact Detective Velazquez at 951-461-6340 or evelazquez@murrietaca.gov.
