A soon-to-be dad has melted hearts all over social media after his wife caught his wholesome reaction to discovering their baby’s gender in a clip that quickly went viral.
In the video, shared on TikTok on Sunday by shelbylouwho_, the couple can be seen sitting down in their yard, ripping into their gender reveal cake with a pair of wine glasses, excited to see if the inside is pink or blue.
As they lift up the glasses, revealing the blue filling, the dad-to-be can’t contain his happiness and immediately starts dancing around in celebration.
“My favorite animal is my husband finding out we’re having a boy,” a caption said, followed by: “I think he’s excited.”
Gender reveal parties are very common among new parents nowadays, but it wasn’t always like this. In fact, Business Insider explains that this only became a thing in 2008, when blogger and mom Jenna Karvunidis announced the birth of her baby daughter with a cake with pink icing on the inside.
With time this trend has taken different variations, some people still do it with cake, while others use fireworks, or confetti, using pinatas or balloons filled with either pink or blue color.
“Oftentimes, doctors will give parents the assigned sex of their child in a sealed envelope that they can then give to a cake maker, balloon designer, or whoever is handling the logistics of their reveal to ensure it’s filly a surprise,” the website added.
The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 20.5 million views and 3.3 million likes on the platform.
One user, MaterTenebrarum, commented: “My bf doing this when we found out we’re having a girl.”

Dee added: “Just one question, did he want a boy? So cute! Congratulations.”
Another user, Ashley, commented: “Aww he was already imagining playing football.”
