AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department identified a 55-year-old man who died in a crash between a train and an SUV that happened last week in south Austin, the agency said in a news release Tuesday.
On Friday, Aug. 9, APD officers responded around 4:20 p.m. to the 1700 block of Matthews Lane for the crash. That’s near Menchaca Road.
The driver of the SUV was identified as Scott A. Sticksel, according to police. He was pronounced dead on the scene, the release said.
Police are investigating this as Austin’s 52nd fatal crash of 2024, the release said. The crash remained under investigation Tuesday.
