Stan's Donuts in Uptown targeted in attempted smash-and-grab robbery

CHICAGO — Police are searching for a smash-and-grab burglar who targeted a Stan’s Donuts shop on the city’s Far North Side.

The attempted burglary happened just before 3 a.m. Tuesday in the 4600 block of North Broadway in the Uptown neighborhood.

According to police, the man used a rock to break the front glass door of the bakery shop and was able to gain entry into the business. He attempted to steal the cash drawer, but was unsuccessful.

The offender fled the scene with no proceeds, police say. No one is in custody.

Area Three detectives are investigating.
