OAKLAND — Police have identified the victim in a June 4 homicide at an Oakland encampment.
Luther Reed, 53, was shot around 5 a.m. on June 4 at an encampment on the 2300 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way. He died at a hospital later that day, authorities said.
Police learned of the shooting through an alert from a gunfire detector. They haven’t announced any arrests nor said if they pinpointed a motive.
It is unclear whether Reed lived at the encampment or was visiting someone there.
