OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – An overnight flash flood leads to a record rainfall causing many vehicle accidents and roads to shut down in and around the metro.
I-35 and NW 63rd; I-240 and May; I-35/I-40 Junction; I-35/I-240 Junction; I-40 and Sooner; I-40 and Council were all shut down before 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning. Will Rogers Airport reported 5.26 inches as of 7 a.m. Central Time, setting the wettest August day in Oklahoma before sunrise on record.
The National Weather Service in Norman reports the highest rainfall total report came from east of Noble in Cleveland County, with 9.94 inches in total.
Drivers should expect delays in flood prone areas or find an alternate route to your final destination.
