LEAGUE CITY, Texas (KTRK) — An inmate who escaped police custody at the UTMB Victory Lakes in League City early Sunday morning has been captured, according to officials.

Officials captured Desmond Taylor, 37, in the 1500 block of W. League City Parkway near S. Gulf Freeway.

Taylor was booked into the League City Jail on Friday after being arrested on an assault family violence with a previous conviction charge.

He reportedly had a medical complaint to which he was taken for treatment.

However, on Sunday at about 1:02 a.m., Taylor escaped from the hospital room. League City officials said how he escaped remains unclear and is being investigated.

Officials say his hospital-issued gown was found outside the building.

LCPD officers, with the assistance of multiple agencies, immediately began searching the area. Taylor was found about 10 hours later, not too far from the hospital, officials said.
