Horses, dogs and cockroaches? More than 100 animals seized from Southern California property

US

A search warrant served at a property in Riverside County resulted in the seizure of more than 100 animals ranging from livestock to exotic birds, according to the Riverside County Animal Services.

The agency said the warrant was served on Wednesday at a property located in the 44000 block of Bonny Lane in Aguanga, which is about 20 miles east of Temecula.

The majority of the 100 animals seized were livestock. Among the others included three horses, six goats, several dogs, chickens, exotic birds, mice and even pet cockroaches. Many of the dogs were “wolf hybrids,” the agency said.

The horses were in poor condition, the agency said, and the property’s owner failed to respond to two notices posted on July 31.

Animal Services was notified by a tip from a deputy with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, who became aware of the situation while working the Nixon Fire.

Most of the animals were relocated and placed into care at the San Jacinto Valley Animal Campus
