A man was pronounced dead after being stabbed multiple times by an attacker with a machete or sword in downtown Los Angeles Thursday night.
Officers responded to reports of a man down with a stab wound around 11 p.m. on South Los Angeles Street near 6th Street.
A man was found on the street with what were described as multiple slash wounds, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson confirmed to KTLA.
The unidentified victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators said the victim appeared to have been slashed with a machete or a sword.
It was unclear what motivated the stabbing or if there was any type of altercation prior to the attack.
Police said the suspect, identified only a a Black male, fled in an unknown direction.
