A North Carolina man charged with killing his wife with a fatal dose of eye drops also tried to poison his daughter, according to police.

Joshua Hunsucker, 39, was arrested Tuesday and jailed in Gaston County, N.C. He had been out on bail after a 2019 arrest in connection with the killing of his wife, Stacy Robinson Hunsucker.

Police said that while Hunsucker was out on bail for four years, he repeatedly tried to intimidate his wife’s family and in one instance poisoned his own daughter with the same substance used to kill his wife, Charlotte NBC affiliate WCNC reported.

Stacy Robinson Hunsucker was found dead at the couple’s home in Mount Holly, N.C., on Sept. 23, 2018. Her death was originally reported as a heart attack, and Joshua Hunsucker collected more than $200,000 in life insurance after her death.

But insurance investigators began probing the case, as Stacy had been cremated quickly after her death, and Hunsucker refused an autopsy.

However, a sample of her blood had been saved because she was an organ donor. Blood tests revealed 30-40 times the therapeutic level of tetrahydrozoline, which is found in over-the-counter eye drops.

Hunsucker was charged with first-degree murder but posted $1.5 million bail and was released.

Cops said in the ensuing years, he has mailed a package to Stacy’s parents, drove by their house routinely and sat in their church parking lot, according to Greenville NBC affiliate WYFF.

On Feb. 23, 2023, the Hunsuckers’ 11-year-old daughter fell ill at school and was hospitalized, according to police. Investigators said Hunsucker put tetrahydrozoline in a drink that his daughter consumed, WYFF reported.

Hunsucker was charged Tuesday with four counts of intimidating a witness and four counts of obstruction of justice, according to WCNC. Additionally, prosecutors said his bail in the murder case should be revoked.
