Montgomery County chase for suspect on felony warrants ends with deadly crash in north Harris County, authorities say

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — One person is dead after a chase that started out of Montgomery County ended in a crash in north Harris County, according to authorities.

Wednesday’s scene started with the Montgomery County Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force beginning a chase of a suspect wanted on felony warrants. As the chase went on, Harris County deputies and Texas DPS troopers were called in after an auto-pedestrian crash off the North Freeway and West Road, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said.

Authorities said the person killed was waiting for a bus when they were hit.

The chase then ended off State Highway 249 and Smiling Woods Lane.

The identity of the person hit at the bus stop is not known.

As for the suspect’s warrant, those details were not immediately released.

The Houston Police Department said it will be investigating the crash portion of this scene since it occurred within city limits.
