Illinois Tollway advises I-PASS customers to disregard phishing texts detailing outstanding toll amounts

US

The Illinois Tollway is advising I-PASS customers to disregard phishing texts being sent to their phones from “Illinois Tollway Services” detailing a specific outstanding toll amount.

The Tollway instructs I-PASS customers to delete any text they receive stating an outstanding toll amount. The Tollway says it’s been informed that this is a phishing scam claiming that recipients owe money for unpaid tolls.

The Tollway advises customers to check their accounts online at illinoistollway.com if they receive a text and are unsure if it’s a scam. Customers can also call the customer service center at 1-800-UC-IPASS (1-800-824-7277) from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays.

Customers who receive a phishing text are asked to file a complaint at ic3.gov, a site dedicated to sharing information on Internet crimes across law enforcement agencies.
