San Fernando Valley resident killed by bullet that pierced neighboring apartment wall

A San Fernando Valley resident was killed after being struck by a bullet that pierced through the wall of their apartment.

On Monday, Los Angeles police responded to reports of shots fired on the 5600 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard in Valley Village at around 9:30 p.m.

Arriving officers found the victim with a gunshot wound inside their apartment. The person was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Investigators discovered a shot was fired from the next-door apartment, piercing through a shared wall before striking the victim.

No suspect was located at the scene. The victim’s identity was not released pending notification of next of kin.

No further details were released as the deadly shooting remains under investigation.
