AUSTIN (KXAN) — Martin Pool in east Austin is closed while it undergoes repairs for damage that was sustained during storms Sunday.

The City of Austin sent out a notice Tuesday saying the pool is closed until further notice. The storm Sunday caused tree limbs to break and fall, damaging the electrical pole for the entire pool facility, according to the city.

The city said the pool cannot operate until repairs have been completed. Staff are in the process of getting a quote and timeline for the repairs.

Rain and thunderstorms moved over the Central Texas region Sunday afternoon, including much of the Austin metro area. According to the First Warning Weather Team, heavy downpours dropped 2.6 inches of rain in the Waller Creek area on the UT Campus.

The downpour also affected operations at Barton Springs Pool temporarily. Barton Springs closed early Sunday evening and reopened Monday morning.

The city said nearby pools Metz Pool (2309 Canterbury St.) and Parque Zaragoza Pool (2611 Webberville Rd.) will be operational through Sunday, Aug. 11 before closing for the season. Govalle Pool (5200 Bolm Rd.) is another option in the area and will be open weekdays through Aug. 18, then weekends only through Sept. 2.

A list of all City of Austin pools and their hours can be found online.
