Apartment fire in Studio City leaves 1 dead

One person is dead after a fire ripped through an apartment building in Studio City, the Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed.

The blaze was first reported at 9:40 p.m. at 4258 North Colfax Avenue. It took just 17 minutes for 36 firefighters to extinguish the flames that tore through the building.

Firefighters then searched the building, where they found a body. The person, who remains unidentified as of 10:30 p.m., was pronounced dead at the scene.

Their cause of death was not immediately released.
