The driver of the Chevy Silverado left the scene, police say.

A moped driver was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Fairhaven on Saturday, according to police.

At approximately 7:11 p.m., officers responded to reports of a crash between a Chevy Silverado truck and a moped on Main Street near Riverside Cemetery and the Route 195 overpass, the Fairhaven Police said in a statement.

The driver of the Chevy Silverado left the scene, authorities said.

The moped driver, who was “seriously injured,” according to the statement, was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital by the Fairhaven Fire Department paramedics, and was subsequently pronounced dead.

Police said a preliminary investigation found that the moped and the Silverado were both moving southbound at the time of the crash. 

The crash is still under active investigation by the Fairhaven Police Department, State Police Crime Prevention and Control Unit, and the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office. Anyone with information is asked to contact Fairhaven Police at 508-997-7421.
