Authorities in Riverside County seized more than a dozen guns from a man accused of assaulting a victim, according to the county’s Sheriff’s Office.

The initial incident occurred just before 1 p.m. on Friday when deputies responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon in the area of Pats Ranch Road and Limonite Avenue in Jurupa Valley. The suspect had fled in a black SUV by the time deputies arrived, but authorities say 31-year-old Yorgan Rios of Jurupa Valley, pointed a gun at the victim during a dispute.

Deputies later found Rios in his vehicle and conducted with the Sheriff’s Office called a “high-risk stop.” He was detained but deputies failed to find a gun in his possession, only ammunition.

A search warrant was then granted and executed at a home on the 11000 block of Dane Drive. There, deputies seized 17 firearms in all, in addition to ammunition and other evidence relating to the alleged assault.

Rios was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and booked into a local jail on $25,000 bail.
