Cardinals’ Rookie Marvin Harrison Jr. Still Not Selling Jerseys

The Arizona Cardinals ended 2023 with a paltry 4-13 record, and the hope is they can turn things around and make a run at the playoffs once again. The good news about having a poor record is being able to draft No. 4 overall, which the team used to draft Marvin Harrison Jr. out of Ohio State.

The son of NFL legend Marvin Harrison, has all the tools to be a massive star in the league. A wide receiver like his father, Harrison Jr. secured 1,211 yards and 14 touchdowns during his final collegiate season. In 2022, he also brought in 1,263 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Harrison Jr.’s ability is innate, and he should become one of the biggest stars in terms of being able to catch contested balls. He will also be a premier pass catcher for quarterback Kyler Murray. Harrison Jr.’s stardom has already grown, but there is one thing oddly missing from his NFL journey.

Harrison Jr. jerseys are still not available for purchase. Per an update from Ian Rapoport, there still remains a dispute between the rookie and Fanatics.

According to the post, “An update: The NFLPA has advised the NFL, the #AZCardinals and Fanatics that they are not still permitted to sell Marvin Harrison Jr. jerseys based on the wishes of his representatives, sources say. And so, fans wait.”

This is a disappointing update for those fans wanting to get their hands on a rookie Harrison Jr. jersey. Even worse is if they were hoping to get a jersey signed, that won’t be the case.

Initially, Rapoport indicated that Harrison Jr. signed a rookie deal that clearly stated licensing for jerseys was going to be possible.

Rapoport indicated in May that the NFLPA group licensing agreement for Harrison Jr. to sell jerseys was good to go.

“Marvin Harrison Jr. has signed his rookie contract, and his jersey will now be for sale, sources say. With the signing of his standard player contract, Harrison is part of the NFLPA’s group licensing agreement, and his jersey can be sold — as outlined in paragraph 4 of the deal,” Rapoport’s post read.

Whatever is holding up the sale of the jerseys is currently still ongoing. The NFLPA stepped in to advise the NFL not to sell jerseys for Harrison Jr.

With the season rapidly approaching, the NFLPA will need to sort out the issues between the language in the rookie deal that the young Cardinals receiver signed. It could be that some fine print is preventing the jerseys from being sold, and that fine print will need to be sorted out immediately.
