2 teens critically injured in Southwest Side drive-by shooting

CHICAGO — Two teens were critically injured on Saturday afternoon after a drive-by shooting on the Southwest Side.

According to Chicago police, the gunfire erupted just after 6 p.m. in the 4800 block of South Winchester Avenue, in the Back of the Yards.

Officers say the two victims, a 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy, were standing near a home in the area when a vehicle approached and someone inside opened fire.

The 15-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to his abdomen and the 17-year-old was hit in the arm and the armpit. Both teens were taken to the hospital, where they were listed in critical condition.

Currently, it is unclear what led to the shooting and authorities say no arrests have been made.
