DALLAS (NEXSTAR/KDAF) – Chili’s employees are spilling the secrets of the restaurant’s newest “secret” menu item.
Starting just this week, Chili’s restaurants across the country will be allowing guests to modify their mozzarella sticks with the flavor of Nashville-style hot sauce, a representative for the chain has confirmed to Nexstar.
“The Nashville Hot Mozz secret menu item is available at all Chili’s locations,” a representative for Chili’s told Nexstar. “It’s not on menu, so guests have to ask for the ‘Nashville Hot Mozz,’ which can be applied to the Triple Dipper combo or the Fried Mozzarella appetizer (available as a 3-piece or 6-piece).”
Chili’s has also started promoting its “secret” Nashville Hot Mozz appetizer on its official social media pages as of Thursday.
“This post got me,” one viewer wrote on Instagram. “I ordered it for lunch.”
Since the debut of the new item, several online food reviewers and even some Chili’s employees have shared mostly positive feedback on the restaurant’s Nashville Hot Mozz sticks, though one employee on TikTok appeared temporarily overwhelmed by the spicy “kick” of the sticks.
A representative for Chili’s said its Nashville Hot Mozz appetizer option will remain available (though off-menu) through the end of August while the company gauges “guest interest and guest reaction” before a possible addition to the restaurant’s permanent offerings.
Being an off-menu item, it should also be noted that Nashville Hot Mozz is not currently available to order via the Chili’s website or app. Customers, however, can call in their orders to their local Chili’s restaurants, the representative told Nexstar.
Several Chili’s employees, meanwhile, are claiming on Reddit and TikTok that customers can actually order their mozzarella sticks in at least one other flavor — specifically Honey Chipotle — though Chili’s says the Honey Chipotle is not officially on its “secret” menu.
“If you do ask, you can get the Honey Chipotle [but] it’s not really part of the secret item launch,” the Chili’s rep told Nexstar. “It depends … if they’re willing to accommodate.”
