The NYPD has arrested a person in connection with the killing of 13-year-old Troy Gill, who was shot in February while walking home from a basketball game.

Police arrested and charged Sheik Koureichi with murder and criminal possession of a weapon on Monday. The 20-year-old, who resides in East New York, Brooklyn, was arraigned and remanded Monday, according to the Brooklyn district attorney’s office. The Daily News reported on Tuesday that a second suspect believed to be the gunman was still at large.

Koureichi is being represented by the Legal Aid Society, which declined to comment on his arrest.

The NYPD also declined to provide more information on the arrest, or why it occurred five months after Gill, 13, died while walking home from a Brooklyn Nets game at Barclays Center.

Gill was shot multiple times at the intersection of New York Avenue and Bergen Street in Crown Heights around 10:40 p.m. Feb. 29, as previously reported by Gothamist. He collapsed just minutes from his home and was immediately rushed to the hospital by first responders, where he was later pronounced dead, authorities said.

Gill’s death prompted anti-violence activists and members of his family to issue a call to action.

“I am glad to see an arrest was made in the case of Troy Gill, whose family has remained in our hearts since his tragic murder,” Councilmember Chi Ossé, who represents the district where Gill’s family is from, told Gothamist in a statement. “I look forward to the justice system moving forward with this case. My office is available to support. We must all work to rid our streets of this senseless violence that has no place in Brooklyn.”

This is a developing story and may be updated.
