The Crypto.com Arena in downtown Los Angeles is about to receive a second statue depicting a late Lakers legend, and this time he won’t be alone.
As reported on Thursday by ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, a statue of Kobe and Gianna “Gigi” Bryant will be unveiled on Friday outside the arena.
It’ll be shown in a private ceremony, according to the report. The general public will be able to view it beginning Saturday.
It’ll be the second statue of Kobe built outside of the Lakers’ arena this year. The first was erected outside the arena on Feb. 8.
The second statue will display Bryant and his daughter Gigi. The pair, along with seven others, died in a tragic helicopter crash in the Calabasas hills on Jan. 26, 2020. Kobe was 41 and Gigi was 13.
Kobe’s widow, Vanessa, previously revealed that another statue will be unveiled sometime during the Lakers’ next season.
