Fatal shooting under investigation in Lowell

Police said the victims were a 43-year-old Lowell man, a 34-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman.

Lowell police are investigating a shooting that killed one man and injured another man and woman, according to a statement from the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office. 

Police responded to reports of a shooting in the parking lot located on Middlesex Street at approximately 4:53 a.m. Saturday, according to officials.

When police arrived at the scene, they found multiple victims who appeared to have been shot.

Police said the victims were a 43-year-old man, a 34-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman.

The two men were transported to an area hospital, where the 43-year-old was later pronounced dead, according to a statement from officials. The other man remains hospitalized, while the woman sustained only minor injuries, police said. 

Officials said this group was gathered in a parking lot early Saturday, when a physical altercation of some kind broke out prior to the shooting.

The case remains under investigation by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the Lowell Police Department and Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
