American Airlines grounded all of its flights on Friday morning due a communication issue, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration said.
The airline was one of several major U.S. carriers, including Delta and United, that issued ground stops following a Microsoft outage that hit businesses around the world.
American Airlines has not yet confirmed whether the disruption is linked to the Microsoft outage.
Microsoft said its outage started about 6 p.m. ET on Thursday, Reuters reported, but issues have since been resolved.
