Youth basketball tourney, lunch giveaway, more

Oak Lawn

Calvary Church, 10056 Central Ave.: Raisin Hoops three on three basketball tournament from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 10 at the outdoor courts at Southwest Christian Schools, 10110 Central Ave. (Inside the gym in case of rain.) Youths 11 to 14 years old are invited to participate in one of four divisions: boys and girls, 11 to 12 years old and 13 to 14 years old; each team of up to four players will have three games in pool play. Players cannot be on multiple teams, and older players cannot join lower-aged divisions, although younger children may join the older teams. The registration deadline is Aug. 1, and T-shirts cannot be guaranteed after July 29. Proceeds will benefit the Calvary Oak Lawn food pantry. The team that brings in the most canned goods on the day of the tournament will have registration fees reimbursed. Cash prizes for championship teams and prizes for a three-point contest. Blue Island

First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2519 Grove St.: The Greater Chicago Food Depository’s Lunch Bus will be on site through Aug. 23. Free meals will be distributed to youths 18 and younger from 10:40 a.m. to 11 a.m. Mondays through Fridays. Free crafts for kids will be offered from 10:30 a.m. to noon most Tuesdays and Thursdays. Children must be present to receive the meals, which will be eaten on site. Information: 773-247-3663.

Flossmoor

Flossmoor Community Church, 2218 Hutchison Road: Draw the Circle Wide after worship July 28. This new Sunday series led by Pastor Dawnn and Pastor Julie explores stories of life transitions, gratitude, joy and overcoming challenges. Homewood

St. John Neumann Parish, 17951 Dixie Highway: Bethlehem art will be displayed July 28. Representatives of the Catholic Chirisian community from Jerusalem and Bethlehem in the Holy Land will display handcrafted olive wood religious figurines and other items. St. Damian, 5300 W. 155th St.: Luau Movie Night on July 27 hosted by Fearless Mothers & Women of God after the 5 p.m. Mass. Weather permitting, the movie will be shown in the grotto by the pastoral center. The event is designed to help people grow closer to God through fun activities and fellowship.
