Dion Dawkins Praises Josh Allen For ‘Barking’ More Heading Into 2024

The Buffalo Bills have been one of the more successful teams over the last few years in the NFL, despite it not culminating in a Super Bowl title. Buffalo has built up a nucleus of strong talent to work around and the organization has been tweaking different things each year. The hope is that one year the Bills will finally break through to win the title but as they enter into 2024, the Bills look a little different.

The team decided that it was time to move on from star wide receiver Stefon Diggs, trading him to the Houston Texans. They also allowed wide receiver Gabe Davis to walk in free agency, landing with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Losing Diggs and Davis means that the Bills receiving room is fairly inexperienced. But the hope is that star quarterback Josh Allen will be able to work some magic to get them in fighting shape.

With the influx of young players on the Buffalo offense this season, Allen will be tasked with taking more of a leadership role. It seems that he has embraced this challenge during OTA’s so far and has been more vocal than ever.

Bills offensive lineman Dion Dawkins told The Herd that Allen has been ‘barking’ more this offseason.

“Josh is one of those guys that will do what it takes at that moment,” Dawkins said. “He’s definitely a barker when that time comes. I’ve actually seen the bark a lot more this OTAs where he’s been very, very verbal, because our team is different. It’s different. We’ve got some young dudes that, when they come in, they see a little bit of success, and they can change, so Josh is doing exactly what he should.”

The turnover on the offensive side of the ball called for someone to step up and Allen took the call. The Bills’ second-round draft pick, Keon Coleman, should see a large role in the offense, as well as veterans Curtis Samuel, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and Chase Claypool. The Bills have more depth across the wide receiver room this season, but the team’s youth in that department could cause some headaches early on.

Allen is one of the better quarterbacks in the entire NFL, so if anyone can make it work, he can. His ability to lift those around him up has been apparent over the years and the Bills will be looking for more of the same this season. Allen has seen regular season success and some big postseason moments, but needs to prove he can win when the lights are the brightest. If the Bills can overcome the inexperience on the offensive end this coming year, Allen could be headed for a potential MVP honor.
