A Long Island amusement park stabbing left a 47-year-old Florida man in critical condition Sunday night.

“Two men who are known to each other were involved in a dispute involving several people at Adventureland Amusement Park,” the Suffolk County Police Department said in a press release.

Long Islander Daniel Tomasky, 42, allegedly knifed 47-year-old James Burns in his abdomen shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday. The victim’s status as of Monday morning isn’t known. Police said at least one child was present at the time of the stabbing.

Tomasky, of Shirley, is charged with 1st degree assault weapon possession and child endangerment. He’s to be arraigned Monday.

The park closed briefly after the stabbing, but resumed operations at 8 p.m., according to News 12.  An Adventureland Amusement Park representative said in a statement to the Daily News that the skirmish appears to have been between two families.

“For more than 60 years, Adventureland has been providing Long Island families with a convenient, affordable and fun local destination,” the company said. “The safety and security of our visitors is our highest priority.”

Adventureland planned to open at 11 a.m. Monday as scheduled. The park is just over 30 miles east of Grand Central Terminal in East Farmingdale. Its 30 attractions include the FireBall roller coaster.
