Get ready for triple digit temperatures across Southern California

US

Sky-high temperatures and poor air quality are expected to rock Southern California this weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, everywhere inland of the immediate coast will see extreme heat on Friday and Saturday.

“We’re all looking at excessive heat, dangerously hot conditions,” said KTLA’s Kirk Hawkins. “Please be safe.”

Forecasted temperatures across Southern California on Friday include 98 degrees in downtown Los Angeles, 106 in Pasadena, 91 in Anaheim, 88 in Long Beach, 107 in San Fernando, 105 in Riverside and 103 in Ontario.

Friday’s expected to be the warmest day of the weekend but Saturday shouldn’t be far behind. Most places — especially inland — are expected to be just one or two degrees lower than on Friday.

Alongside the high temperatures will be poor air quality.

“We’re seeing significant air quality concerns,” Hawkins said. “A big part of this not only is that area of high pressure that’s stationary over the region, but of course all of the fireworks kind of lingering.”

Those with respiratory conditions should be mindful of the air quality before performing strenuous activity over the weekend.

A Red Flag Warning is also under effect across Southern California, meaning there’s high-fire danger due to dry, hot and windy conditions, according to the NWS.
