WASHINGTON — Posters of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza, including eight Americans, were torn from the wall of Rep. Brad Schneider’s Capitol Hill office in a “vile act of hate” on Independence Day, the congressman said Friday.
Schneider posted an image of the vandalism to the social media site X, showing shredded posters on the floor of the Cannon House Office Building.
More than 250 people were kidnapped Oct. 7 in Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel. Roughly 120 people are still being held in the region.
Schneider is known as one of the most pro-Israel members of Congress. Protestors calling for an end to Israel’s war in Gaza demonstrated outside his Highland Park home last weekend.
“These actions don’t advance peace,” Schneider wrote. “Instead, they play directly into the hands of Hamas terrorists enabling them to continue to hold hostage not only those they kidnapped from Israel, but all civilians in Gaza as well.”
