Four people were critically injured and two others were hospitalized after a pickup truck slammed into them as they barbecued in a Lower East Side park on the Fourth of July, officials and sources said.
The driver of the silver pickup truck mounted a curb and careened into Corlears Hook Park on the corner of Water St. and Jackson St. just after 8:55 p.m., they added.
FDNY members arrived on the scene and extracted at least four people who were pinned by the truck.
Medics rushed the critically injured people to New York-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital.
They took two other people to Bellevue Hospital,f where they were expected to survive.
Cops took a suspect into custody, police sources said.
