Hurricane Beryl update

Following Beryl’s devastating hurricane-force winds, life-threatening storm surge, and damaging waves that battered Jamaica Wednesday afternoon and evening, the powerhouse storm was predicted to produce similar results in the Cayman Islands late Wednesday night/early morning July 4th.
Beryl was then forecast to move toward the Yucatan Peninsula and Belize, producing damaging winds, a dangerous storm surge and heavy rainfall beginning Thursday night, still maintaining hurricane status.

There remains uncertainty in the track and intensity forecast of Beryl over the western Gulf of Mexico this weekend, interests in these areas, including southern Texas, should monitor the progress of Beryl over the coming weekend.

——HURRICANE BERYL REACHED CATEGORY 5 STATUS LATE MONDAY, 165 MPH, THE STRONGEST JULY HURRICANE ON RECORD, BREAKING THE OLD RECORD OF 160 MPH FROM HURRICANE EMILY IN 2005.
THE POWERFUL CATEGORY FOUR STORM KILLED AT LEAST SIX PEOPLE IN THE SOUTHEAST CARIBBEAN, INCLUDING ONE IN VENEZUELA.
