LULING, Texas (KXAN) — A fire that broke out Monday morning in Luling at an old Buc-ee’s travel center has now been extinguished, authorities said.

According to the Caldwell County Office of Emergency Management, the structure fire occurred in the area of Interstate 10 and Highway 183.

The Southeast Caldwell County VFD said it was called to help with the fire and confirmed it was at the old Buc-ee’s location.

Just last month, a new Buc-ee’s travel center opened in Luling in the same area, replacing the old location. This confused some on social media.

“Despite the sign and some information you may have seen, the fire is NOT the new Buc-ee’s travel stop,” the Caldwell County OEM clarified.

Officials said the fire was put out quickly, and now firefighters are cleaning up the mess. Drivers in the area are advised to proceed with caution.

The old Buc-ee’s building was built in 2003 and was the first Buc-ee’s travel center for the brand, according to the company. The new location is currently the largest Buc-ee’s in the country.

More than a dozen agencies responded to the fire, Southeast Caldwell County VFD said.
