2 Chicago men facing attempted murder charges in connection with shooting of teen boy on West Side

CHICAGO — Two Chicago men accused in the shooting of a teen boy on the city’s West Side in early June are now facing felony charges.

Chicago police say 35-year-old Angel Ramirez and 30-year-old Thomas Garcia, both Little Village residents, have each been charged with one felony count of attempted first-degree murder.

The charges stem from a shooting that allegedly unfolded in the 2700 block of South Komesnky Avenue just before 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11.

According to police, Ramirez and Garcia allegedly opened fire on a 14-year-old boy, leaving him injured.

It is unclear what led to the shooting and authorities have not provided an update on the teen’s condition.

Both men are set to appear in court for detention hearings on Tuesday.
