Car hit by Metra train near Ingleside, causing delays

INGLESIDE, Ill — Metra riders faced some delays on Sunday night after a train hit a car near Ingleside.

Around 8:20 p.m. on Sunday, Metra officials said MDN Train 2621 struck a vehicle near Ingleside, in Lake County.

Currently, it is unclear what led to the crash or if anyone was injured.

According to Metra, inbound train 2620, which was scheduled to depart Fox Lake at 8:25 p.m., was delayed due to the incident.

It is unclear how long the delays will last.

Officials say they will provide updates to the public as they become available.
