SWAT team responds to armed standoff at smoke shop in San Fernando Valley

The Los Angeles Police Department SWAT Team cleared an armed standoff at a smoke shop in Sunland early Sunday morning. 

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, police were first dispatched to Platinum Smoke Shop on Foothill Boulevard around 3:30 a.m. on a call of an armed robbery. 

Upon arriving at the scene, officers encountered three men and a woman, all armed with handguns, who barricaded themselves inside the store.

A suspect was arrested while attempting to flee in a vehicle shortly after LAPD arrived, preliminary information indicates.

SWAT Team members were called to the store, and after nearly three hours, they were able to assist police in taking the remaining suspects into custody.
