Crime and Public Safety | CHP seeks information on East Bay freeway shooting

US

The California Highway Patrol is asking the public for help in locating a suspect involved in a freeway shooting that occurred Friday afternoon.

According to the CHP, the shooting took place on southbound Interstate 238, north of E. 14th Street in an unincorporated area of Alameda County, near Hayward and San Leandro.

“Officers located one victim who did not sustain any injuries as a result of this shooting,” the CHP said in a press statement.

A suspect has not yet been identified.

There were two other separate shootings in Hayward on city streets last week, one that killed a 15-year-old boy from Rodeo and another that left an 18-year-old man from Pleasanton in critical condition.

Anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of a suspect should call the CHP Hayward Area office at 510-489-1500.
