Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles closing Pasadena location

Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles, a Los Angeles area staple, is closing one of its seven restaurants.

A sign posted in front of the Pasadena location confirmed the closure of the eatery, located at 830 North Lake Avenue. The last day it will be open is Sunday.

The sign also indicated that the beloved chicken and waffles chain is looking for an “upgraded” Pasadena location.

With the closure, Roscoe’s will now have six locations: Hollywood, South Los Angeles, Long Beach, Inglewood, Anaheim and Mid-City.

Pasadena Chamber of Commerce and Civic Association President and CEO Paul Little told the Orange County Register that he hopes the “local institution” can find a way to stay in the city.

“I would love to see them stay in Pasadena…they have been open for a very long time,” he told the Register. “I hope they can find another location in Pasadena that suits them.”

According to the O.C. Register, a “For Lease” sign now stands near the corner of the restaurant.

The soul food chain, which was founded by Herb Hudson in 1975, has endured financial difficulties in the past; Roscoe’s parent company, East Coast Foods. Inc, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2016

That said, Roscoe’s opened their new location in Mid-City in January 2023.
