Things to do this weekend in Los Angeles County

The first official weekend of summer 2024 is here and many events will take place across Southern California to help residents kick off the season properly.

Here is a roundup of a few of the events happening this weekend.

Santa Monica Pride

The Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica will be illuminated with rainbow lights during a citywide celebration of the LGBTQ+ community. The party will kick off Saturday at noon and go on until 8 p.m.

Hollywood Bowl

The Hollywood Bowl will celebrate 100 years since the late composer Henry Mancini’s birth with performances from Michael Bublé, Dave Koz, Cynthia Erivo and more. Tickets can be purchased here.

Huntington Beach

Enjoy a nice meal by the beach at the recently renovated Lorea restaurant at Paséa Hotel & Spa in Huntington Beach. The “land to sea”-driven menu features a variety of dishes, including vegan options.

Sporting Events

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Football Club will play at their home stadiums this weekend.

The Dodgers will take on the Los Angeles Angels, while the L.A. Football Club will face off against the San Jose Earthquakes.

California Watermelon Festival

The 22nd edition of the California Watermelon Festival will kick off this Saturday at the Hansen Dam Soccer Fields in Sylmar.

This year’s festival will feature all-you-can-eat watermelon for all attendees, adventurous watermelon-inspired dishes, a kid and petting zone, live entertainment, a carnival section and more.
