Driver struck during traffic accident on Southwest Side dies at scene, 1 in custody as occupants flee – Chicago Tribune

A driver of a vehicle was pronounced dead overnight after two cars collided on the South Sidein the Wrightwood neighborhood and the occupants of one vehicle attempted to flee but one was caught, Chicago police said.

Shortly before midnight, a black SUV traveling south in the 8300 block of South Kedzie Avenue struck a white sedan traveling west on 83rd Street. Three males exited the SUV and fled on foot, but one was caught, police said.

The driver of the white sedan was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives were investigating and charges were pending.
