ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. — A 19-year-old man from McHenry is dead after a fatal motorcycle versus vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon, according to the Arlington Heights Police Department (AHPD).

Police said AHPD and the Arlington Heights Fire Department (AHFD) were called to a report of a motorcycle versus vehicle crash at the intersection of Lake Cook and Wilke Roads around 3:50 p.m.

After first responders arrived on scene, the driver of the motorcycle, identified by police as 19-year-old Jack Fuchs, was found laying unresponsive in the road after being ejected from his motorcycle in the crash.

Bystanders performed CPR on Fuchs before police and fire arrived, at which point he was taken to Northwest Community Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police said their initial investigation showed the driver of a Toyota Rav4 was stopped, waiting to make a left-hand turn from westbound Lake Cook Road onto southbound Wilke Road when Fuchs was driving his motorcycle eastbound on Lake Cook Road.

The Rav4 then began making a left-hand turn onto Wilke Road as Fuchs approached on his motorcycle. The 19-year-old man tried to evade the SUV, but his motorcycle fell on its right side and began to slide, leading to Fuchs slamming into the rear passenger side of the Toyota.

According to AHPD, Fuchs was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

AHPD and their Major Case Assistance Team are still actively investigating the incident, and no citations have been issued in their investigation at this time.
