Lots of NYC street closures this weekend for Queens Pride, Israel parade, more events

Several weekend celebrations will lead to a difficult time for drivers attempting to get around New York City June 1 and 2. Multiple streets and several bridges across the five boroughs will temporarily close as a result of the festivities, according to the city Department of Transportation.

Saturday

On Saturday, the Haitian Parade will shut down several streets. For formation of the parade, the NYPD will shut:

  • Central Park West between 72nd and 86th Streets
  • 81st to 85 Streets between Columbus Avenue and Central Park West

For the route:

  • Central Park West between 81st St. and 71st St.

And for dispersal:

  • 67th to 71st Street between Columbus Avenue and Central Park West
  • Central Park West between 66th and 71st Street

Also on Saturday, the St. Nicholas Avenue Fair will shut St. Nicholas Avenue, between 181st and 188th Streets. The Times Square Springfest will shut 7th Avenue and between 47th Street and 57th Street.

Sunday

On Sunday, the Queens Pride Parade will begin at noon and lead to multiple street closures around the area. Attendees will march down 37th Avenue from 89th Street to 75th Street in Jackson Heights. The parade will end in a festival. For the formation police will close

  • 89th Street between 35th Avenue and Roosevelt Avenue.

For the route:

  • 37th Avenue between 75th Street and 89th Street.

For dispersal:

  • 75th Street between 37th Avenue and Roosevelt Avenue

And for the festival:

  • 75th and 76th Street between 37th Avenue and Roosevelt Avenue
  • 37th Road between 74th Street and 77th Street

Also Sunday, the Celebrate Israel Parade & Festival will shut down multiple streets between Park Avenue and 6th and 7th Avenues, and multiple streets between 5th Avenue and Madison Ave. Police said the 18-block parade route from 56th to 75th Street on 5th Avenue “has been fortified” with extra security measures. And the Philippine Independence Day Celebration will shut down multiple streets between 5th Avenue and both Park and Madison Avenues. For the formation:

  • 37th and 38th Street between 5th Avenue and Park Avenue
  • 36th Street between Madison Avenue and 5th Avenue

For the route:

  • Madison Avenue between 27th Street and 38th Street

For dispersal:

  • 27th Street between 5th Avenue and Park Avenue

And for the festival:

  • Madison Avenue between 24th Street and 26th Street
  • 26th Street between Madison Avenue and Park Avenue
