Month-old baby with ‘visible signs of trauma’ dead on Staten Island; 2 in custody

A month-old baby boy is dead on Staten Island and detectives were interviewing his parents in connection with the infant’s demise, police sources said.

Cops responding to the West Brighton Houses at around 6:45 a.m. Saturday found the “unconscious and unresponsive infant,” who had “visible signs of trauma to the left arm,” authorities said.

EMS transported the baby to Richmond University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Two “persons of interest” were taken into custody, the NYPD said.

Sources said detectives were interviewing the baby’s parents.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death and the investigation remains ongoing, authorities said.
