While executing a search warrant on a 620-acre lot in Duchesne County on March 13, 2001, deputies found a human skull “on top of a fence post that surrounded the property,” according to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and an April 24 news release from the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office.

Initially, deputies said they believed the skull to be of “Native American origin,” given a nearby burial ground.

However, deputies said anthropological analysis showed the remains belonged to a Hispanic woman between the ages of 17 and 25.

The woman would have gone missing at some point between 1981 and 2001, according to deputies.

Deputies said a composite sketch was created, adding they are hoping to identify the woman.

If the woman looks familiar, or if you have any information about her, contact deputies at 435-738-2015 or email sheriff@duchesne.utah.gov.

Duchesne County is about a 115-mile drive southeast from Salt Lake City.
