NYPD: 4 arrested in connection with dead woman found in a bag in the Bronx

US

Detectives were investigating Friday morning after police found a woman’s body in a garbage bag at an apartment in the Bronx Thursday afternoon.

According to the NYPD, officers responded to a 911 call at a building on the Grand Concourse near East 140th Street in Mott Haven at around 1:45 p.m.

They found a 70-year-old woman unconscious and unresponsive in a bag, NYPD officials said.

First responders pronounced the woman dead at the scene, and police said four people were arrested in connection with the incident – though they hadn’t yet been charged with a crime by Friday morning.

Police did not immediately release the woman’s identity, but officials said she was not from New York State and may have been visiting friends. It’s unclear if those friends were living at the apartment where she was found, police said.

The woman did not have any visible signs of trauma, and her death was not immediately ruled a homicide.
